Rooh Afza, for those of you unfamiliar with it, is a concentrated syrup with a variety of ‘cooling’ ingredients. It is a medley of fruit, herbs, and even rosewater. It tastes almost punch-like and is definitely a sweet treat. Traditionally because of these ‘cooling’ properties it is thought of as a Ramzan drink. However, now evidence suggests that this sweet syrup may not be the healthiest thing to consume by the litre 😉 I use it in moderation here and choose not to feel guilty about it. You’ve gotta live a little right?
Also the kids love it, especially my littlest one who regularly requests one. It surprises me a little since these are not remotely close to grocery store popsicles in their sweetness, but that doesn’t seem to perturb her watermelon loving soul in the slightest.
